Help protect the survival of Australia's koala's ...
Join the Australian Koala Foundations (AKF's) campaign to have the koala listed as 'vulnerable to extinction' under the Threatened Species Act.
Visit www.savethekoala.com.au
Currently, the koala is facing extreme pressure from urban development, land clearing and native forest logging. The Federal Environment Minister must list the koala so it will gain protection under the EPBC Act and be a valued species amongst our iconic wildlife.

Clouds Creek Koalas
STAND asked for improved protection for koalas during Clouds Creek SF harvest operations:
Protection of local koala populations.
The current harvest plans do not adequately identify or retain
core koala habitat and we consider 1998 logging has decimated
koala populations in these native forests.
Our request for a moratorium on logging operations within Clouds Creek State Forest was not granted during Forests NSW 2009 harvesting.
STAND believes local koala populations are being decimated to provide smaller logs to the industry.
In 2009, Forests NSW harvest operations have logged 344ha of wet sclerophyll forest in Clouds Creek SF, removing all larger trees in FMZ4 zones, including streamline canopy to within 5m of drainage lines, leaving no healthy habitat recruitment trees for future generations of wildlife. All core koala habitat has been severely logged to provide 30-40cm dbh logs for industry demands.

Go to our MAPS page for details.
STAND is not affiliated with any political party, we are an entirely independent group of local residents fighting for our forests, the rights of wildlife and our small community. We are angry and outraged by FNSW disrespect towards us and hoping to have our concerns heard by NSW DECCW, the NSW Government Minister Ian Macdonald and Forests NSW.
